Kenya’s KCSE Examination Registration for 2025 Is Ongoing
Registration for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE registration 2025 is ongoing for candidates who wish to register for the KCSE examination this year 2025. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education is the officially recognized certificate for secondary school leavers in Kenya, and the certificate issued after the KCSE examination is a major requirement for admission into any higher institution in the Republic of Kenya.

KCSE Examination Portal is Open For 2025 Registration
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE registration portal will remain opened from Monday 27th January, to Friday, 21st February 2025 for interested candidates. This was announced by the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya National Examination Council, David Njeng’ere through the news channels and official website of the body.
The opening of the KCSE registration portal for 2025 is to enable interested candidates to get their information ready and proceed to register for the all-important examination. By opening the KCSE registration portal it means that the examination body, KNEC is set to handle students data processing and further conduct the examination at a date already announced by them.

Requirement For KCSE Registration 2025
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education’s, KCSE registration requirement for 2025 as announced by the Kenya National Examination Council, KNEC, are as follows:
- Candidates for KCSE shall be requested to present statutory documents such as National ID card
- They shall also present birth certificate and passports
- They shall also present their KCPE certificate
- Repeaters of the exam are to present their KCSE certificates or result slips
- Soft copy of a recent passport size photograph is also needed for KSCE registration
Timetable For Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Exams 2025
July 2025 will mark the beginning of the KCSE examination, as for July 2025 repeaters of the examination who had already taken the KCSE exams but had issues or did not pass well shall take the KCSE examination. Before they take part in the examination they must has concluded their KCSE registrations, for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination for 2025. The July schedule of the KCSE Exam is for both project-based examination and theory/practical examinations.
Those taking subjects such as Arts and Design, Agriculture, woodwork, and computer studies during the KCSE examinations will have their examinations between January and July 2025.
The theory and practical of KCSE examination will take place from July1 to August 1, 2025.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams 2025 will hold at venues chosen by County Directors of Education (CDEs), and candidates for the KCSE will have to present proof of eligibility and qualification for the exams, such as their ID or birth certificate, to gain entrance into examination venues.
For project-based subjects, KCSE candidates must provide data on the sub-county where their projects will be conducted and visit the respective Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs) after registration for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of secondary Education so that they can be assigned venues.
Candidates repeating seven or more subjects as explained by KNEC, will receive a KCSE certificate, while those repeating fewer subjects will be issued result slips
The Kenya National Examinations Council has stressed the importance of ensuring that all KCSE registration details are accurate, including names, birth years, genders, and subject choices.
It has also reminded candidates to confirm the accuracy of their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE registration data, follow up with their respective County or Sub-County Directors of Education, and obey the guidelines provided to avoid complexities.
Steps And Process For KCSE 2025 Registration
- Make your payment of the registration fee: Candidates interested in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams are required to pay a registration fee of Sh7,200 through the e-Citizen platform of the country before proceeding to the portal for registration.
- Assemble your required documents: Candidates for the KCSE must make sure that all their required documents for the exams as stated are well prepared and readied before they proceed to the portal. The documents needed include; statutory identification documents such as- national ID, birth certificate, or passport, as well as a copy of their KCPE certificate. For candidates who are repeating the exams, they are required to present their KCSE certificate or result slip.
iii. Registration is through the KNEC portal: Eligible candidates for 2025 KCSE must complete their registration process using the portal provided by the KNEC, the portal is controlled at the KNEC Headquarters located at the New Mitihani House in South C, Nairobi.
Deadline For Kenya’s KCSE 2025 Registration
Kenyan students who wish to register for KCSE 2025 should know that the deadline for the KCSE 2025 registration is February 21, 2025 and that the Kenya National Examination Council, KNEC has warned that late KCSE registration will not be permitted. Therefore interested candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2025 should register on time to avoid the close of portal against them.
Recall that in previous years many students have been missing their KCSE exams opportunity due to inability to register on time and have their registration or application processed to enable them partake in the KCSE examinations.
